Edwardian 12kt Mixed Metals Gold Quartz Witch's Heart Pendant
Gold-in-quartz was formed while the earth was still in its molten state. During the cooling and solidification process, veins of gold became trapped with the crystals of quartz in the mine. This created a very dramatic contrast between the white quartz and the yellow of the gold. Jewelry made from gold quartz became quite a fashion statement of the 1880's.
An absolutely fabulous gold quartz pendant from the Edwardian (ca1910) era! This lovely and unusual piece is crafted in 12kt gold and loosely forms the shape of a witch's heart. The quartz is open on both sides and encased in a 12kt yellow gold bezel frame. The matte gold quartz displays lovely coloration of white and grey and specks of vibrant gold can be found throughout the stone on both sides. Resting at the top of the frame is a flowing 12kt white and yellow gold grape and leaf garland which curves around the sides of the bail, beautifully complimenting the soft heart shape. Attached at the top of the pendant is a simple gold bail, which is perfect for attaching to a complimentary chain. It's a simply magnificent and unusual piece and would make any collection complete!
