WALTER LAMPL Art Deco 14kt Onyx + Chrysoprase Ring
Walter Lampl was an ambitious New York City jeweler whose rags-to-riches story marked the beginnings of a successful career. At the age of 26, he opened a wholesale jewelry business in 1921, and eventually commissioned several female designers whose work he oversaw and and approved from page to product. His quality jewelry included colorful gemstone designs, unique charms, and popular pins. Multiple designs originated as gifts for his beloved wife Sylvia (whom he called "Toots"), later evolving into designs available to the rest of his clientele. His enthusiasm, charismatic personality, and humorous motto "Creators of the Unusual, As Usual" made him a much beloved man whose legacy extended far beyond the end of his life. Authentic vintage Walter Lampl pieces are still fashionable today and have become quite collectible!
This incredible onyx and chrysoprase ring from the late Art Deco (ca1930s) era is a signed piece by the legendary Walter Lampl! Crafted in 14kt yellow gold, the bold ring features a gorgeous hexagonal-shaped onyx cabochon at the center of a fabulous design. The rich, black stone is uniquely faceted and rests in a bezel setting, flanked by a beautiful chrysoprase stone at either shoulder. The ring-shaped stones exhibit a stunning deep green hue which pops against the beautiful yellow gold, creating an absolutely gorgeous effect. A double stacked band at the back completes the design and stamped inside of the shank is a "14K" gold purity mark beside the maker's initials "WL". A very special Art Deco era piece, it looks fabulous when worn and would make a striking addition to any collection!
Measurements: The ring has a small finger size of 4, but could be resized if desired. The centerpiece rests about 3/8" above the finger when worn. The band at the back measures 3mm wide.
Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the yellow gold setting. The onyx and chrysoprase stones are intact and securely set.
