Retro Bakelite Multi-Color "Bowtie Motif" Bangle Bracelet
Bakelite is a resin material that was produced in the early 1900's and was the first plastic substance made of synthetic components. Initially used for its electrically non conductive and heat resistant properties in radio and telephone castings, the material was also used in other products such as kids' toys, kitchenware and jewelry. Typically made of bold, beautiful colors, Bakelite has become very collectible over recent years and is appreciated amongst many.
A fantastic and funky Bakelite bracelet from the Retro era (ca1940)! This fashionable bangle has a colorful design, comprised of bright "bowties" resting above a cream-colored background. The colors compliment each other perfectly, including various shades of green, red, yellow, brown, and black. Some of the colors have a marbled or translucent appearance, while others are solid, providing additional variety. The bracelet slips on and off easily, and would look fabulous worn as a stand-alone piece, or stacked with other bangles for a layered look. A fun and eye-catching piece, it is perfect for the Bakelite collector, and would make a versatile addition to any vintage jewelry collection!
Measurements: The inside of the bracelet (where a wrist would rest) has a diameter of 2 5/8" across. It would fit nicely on a medium/average sized wrist. The surface of the bracelet measures about 3/8" wide and thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the bracelet is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the Bakelite.
