Victorian 14kt Carved Moonstone "Baby Face" Cameo + Diamond Ring
A beautiful and unusual ring from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Crafted in 14kt gold, this unique piece frames a hand-carved moonstone cameo at the center. The carving is exceptional, depicting the face of a young child or baby, whose sculpted facial features and fine hair come to life in realistic 3-dimensional detail. The moonstone itself exhibits notable adularescence, exhibiting a prominent flash of pearly iridescent white, which further accentuates the beautiful contours of the carving. Directly above and below the cameo face are four old Mine Cut diamonds, adding a beautiful sparkle to the design! The diamonds and moonstone are all held within a raised prong setting, resting at the center of a smooth gold band with carved detail at each shoulder. A remarkable Victorian piece, this artistic ring is sure to delight moonstone lovers and cameo collectors alike!
Measurements: The ring has a finger size 6.25, but could be easily resized. The moonstone and diamond centerpiece measures 5/8" tall, 3/8" across, and rests 3/8" above the finger when worn. The band measures 2mm wide at the back.
Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting. The moonstone cameo remains very well-preserved, with only one small chip on the side of the stone below the prongs, which is not visible when worn. All four diamonds are intact and securely set.
