Victorian 18kt Huge Gold in Quartz Statement Ring

SKU: 42300

$5,995
Gold-in-quartz was formed while the earth was still in its molten state. During the cooling and solidification process, veins of gold became trapped with the crystals of quartz in the mine. This created a very dramatic contrast between the white quartz and the yellow of the gold. Jewelry made from gold quartz became quite a fashion statement of the 1880's. During the Gold Rush era in the American West, most of the gold quartz was mined in California around the San Francisco area.

A stunning gold quartz ring from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Originally an antique pin, this spectacular gold quartz plaque has been re-purposed into an impressive statement ring. Crafted in 18kt yellow gold with rose gold details, this piece adorns an incredible "gold-in-quartz" stone at the center of a simple band. The oval-shaped stone is quite large in size, exhibiting a variety of grey and milky white tones combined with earthy green and red hues, closely resembling moss agate. Marbled flecks of vibrant yellow and rose gold stand out dramatically against the naturally colorful background. A smoothly polished rose gold border surrounds the centerpiece, adding a wonderful two-tone appeal. The stone rests in a custom-made mounting, complete with a wide band that graduates slightly towards the back. Stamped inside the shank is a "750" gold purity mark. A magnificent conversation piece, this bold ring would look equally stunning worn day or night!

Measurements: The ring has a finger size 6, but could be re-sized if desired. The centerpiece measures approximately 1" wide, slightly under 1 1/2" tall, and rests 3/8" above the finger when worn. The tapered band measures 4.5mm wide in the back.

Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the yellow and rose gold setting. The gold quartz stone is intact and securely set.
