fob is an adornment or a seal that hangs from the ribbon or chain of a pocket watch. Its purpose is to decorate or add weight to the watch chain itself, making it easier for the watch to be withdrawn from a pocket. A spinner or swivel fob has two or more sides, which can be turned or swiveled within a moveable bracket. This allows the wearer a choice as to which side is displayed prominently!

A fabulous spinner fob from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This oversized citrine fob hangs horizontally and has 3 smooth faces. It hangs from a vibrant 18kt yellow gold spinner handle, which is riveted into each side of the citrine. The spinner framework is highly detailed, forming the shape of a coiled snake. Adorning the surface is textured repousse detail to create the illusion of scales. The corners and edges of the citrine are faceted, and the stone is triangular in shape, giving it a prism-like effect. A large gold "O" ring at the top of the fob allows it to be easily hung and worn from a favorite gold chain. A remarkable Victorian piece, it makes a statement when worn and is perfect for any snake lover or fob collector!

Measurements: The fob hangs approximately 2" long, measures 1 5/8" across the widest point, and is 1 1/8" thick.

Condition: The overall condition of the piece is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold spinner framework or bail. The citrine is in excellent condition with no apparent chips or scratches.
