Late Art Deco English Sterling Oval Locket Ring
A wonderful and customizable English locket ring from the late Art Deco (ca1934) era! Crafted in sterling silver, this gorgeous piece adorns a relatively large oval-shaped locket at the center of a simple band. The centerpiece features an open window at the center, which is covered with a clear celluloid insert. The locket is hinged at the side, and opens to reveal a hollow space where a special photograph, favorite keepsake, or any eye-catching item could be kept inside. Completing the design are pillar-style split shoulders, which extend to a simple and smooth band in the back. Multiple hallmarks and markings can be found stamped on the underside of the centerpiece, including the maker's mark "JBM," beside London hallmarks of a lion and lion head, along with the date letter "t," which dates the piece to 1934. The patent number "PAT. NO 410245" and the number "RB 784538" are also stamped inside. A stunning piece that can be customized to showcase any special item, it would make a fantastic addition to any collection!
Measurements: The ring has a finger size 7.5, but can easily be resized. The centerpiece measures approximately 7/8" tall, 5/8" wide, and rests about 1/8" above the finger when worn. The band measures 1.5mm wide at the back.
Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling silver setting or to the celluloid insert. The hinged locket opens easily and stays securely closed.
