Victorian French Large Sterling Double-Sided Slide Locket Pendant
A fabulous double-sided slid locket from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This sterling silver locket is French in origin and particularly large in size. Both sides of the pendant feature a matching design, elaborately adorned with a gorgeous leaf and floral motif in a raised repousse design. The details of the intricate image include long, textured leaves which crisscross over the surface, and lovely round flowers that bloom along delicate stems. Both sides are equally beautiful, making the piece reversible and wonderfully versatile. A hinged design at the top allows the locket to slide open, revealing two spaces to hold a special photograph, favorite keepsake or mirror. A large bail rests at the top, perfect for hanging from a favorite chain, and stamped below is a French hallmark of a boar's head. Measurements: The locket pendant hangs approximately 3 1/4" long (including the bail at the top), and measures about 2" wide and 3/8" thick.
Condition: The piece is in good antique condition. There is no serious damage to the silver setting, however, there are slight indentations on both sides of the locket which is hardly noticeable when worn as they appear to be apart of the design. The slide feature and bail are are in good working condition.
