Victorian Hand Painted Steel Fly & Ivory Stud Earrings
Wonderful fly and ivory stud earrings from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Comprised of an ivory disk base, each earrings has a 14kt yellow gold bezel frame which is open in the back. Attached in the center of each disk is a small hand painted steel fly. Each fly stands out perfectly against the soft cream background and is framed beautifully by the gold bezel border. The charming and very unusual design looks absolutely lovely when worn. On the back of each is a simple gold earring post. Both simple yet striking, the earrings are ideal for everyday wear and would make a perfect addition to any collection!
Measurements: The earrings have a diameter of slightly less than 1/2" and are 3/16" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold frame or to the steel and ivory design. The posts and earring backs are secure and in good condition. There is some wear to the hand painted details on the flies, however, this does not detract from the beauty of the earrings.
