Victorian Sterling Book Chain & Large Cross Necklace
A beautiful sterling chain and cross pendant from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This wonderful necklace is comprised of a large studded cross that hangs from a sterling book chain. The book chain consists of decorative rectangular links that connect together with large rings to form a gorgeous chain. Each link has a decorative row of studs and sterling beads on the front surface. The large cross pendant displays a complimentary design of raised studs surrounded by a border of delicate sterling beads. The cross hangs from a complimentary bail, which connects to a spring ring at the center of the beautiful chain. The back of the cross is stamped "D&L" along with three small hallmarks. This incredible necklace is a wonderful example of Victorian artistry and would make a very special addition to any collection!
Measurements: The sterling chain measures approximately 17" in length, is 3/8” at the widest point and 1/4" thick. The cross pendant hangs 2 7/8" long, is 1 3/8" wide and 1/4" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the chain and pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling setting and the clasp is secure and in good working condition. The locket opens easily and fastens shut securely.
