Victorian 12kt Gold Book Chain Collar Necklace 18"
A fabulous 12kt yellow gold book chain from the Victorian (ca1880s) era! This wonderful piece is comprised of braided rings that link together, forming a beautiful collar chain necklace. The rings alternate between smoothly polished and textured and found on both sides are hollow gold beads. The gold beads that fall on the inside on the chain are slightly smaller than the outer, creating a beautiful eye-catching appeal. At the center of the chain is a small bail which allows a complimentary pendant or locket to be attached. The necklace has a secure clasp at the back which is stamped "...00." A fabulous chain necklace, it is comfortable to wear and would look wonderful worn alone or paired with a Victorian locket or pendant!
Measurements: The necklace measures approximately 18" long, is 3/8" at the widest point and 1/8" in depth. The larger balls measure 2.5mm in diameter and the smaller balls measure 2mm. The necklace weighs 24.9 grams.
Condition: The overall condition of the book chain is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no serious damage to the chain and the clasp is secure and in good working condition. There is some slight discoloration throughout on the surface of the gold which is not unusual for pieces with 12kt purity and it is not noticeable when worn.
