Victorian Sterling Silver "Tire Track" Book Chain Necklace 19.5"
A stylish book chain necklace from the Victorian era (ca1880)! Made of sterling silver, the necklace has a flexible "tire track" design comprised of interlocking square-shaped links. There are 3 rows of links that form the grid, almost resembling a checkerboard pattern when worn. Bordering the tire track motif are oval links at each side, adding a braided texture that finishes the piece perfectly. The necklace fastens with a large spring ring clasp at the end, allowing a pendant or locket to hang from the center if desired. The clasp is stamped "STERLING" on the side. When worn, the chain wraps drapes beautifully below the neckline, making a striking statement piece. It would compliment any modern or antique jewelry collection!
Measurements: The necklace measures approximately 19.5" long, 5/8" wide, and 1/8" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the book chain is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling setting. All of the links are secure and properly hinged, allowing for comfortable movement. The spring ring clasp fastens securely and is in good working condition. There is a natural patina that gives a darkened appearance to the sterling setting, which is a normal characteristic of antique jewelry.
