Victorian 18kt Coral Enamel Locket/Pendant

SKU: 38983

$1,895
A magnificent coral locket/pendant from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Made of vibrant 18kt gold, the piece is highly detailed and particularly large in size. A cluster of 7 coral cabochons rest at the center, which are smoothly polished and display lovely natural color. The cabochons are nestled within a wrapped wirework border, and a delicate rose cut diamond is riveted into the center, set within star-shaped border. A wonderful white enameled border surrounds the coral cluster, and is enhanced with a delicate twisted gold rope pattern. Dangling freely from the bottom of the piece are three coral links, which hang in a festoon fashion. The back of the pendant reveals a large glass locket window, which still holds a lock of hair inside. If desired, the hair can be removed to store a special photograph inside. The piece hangs from a large bow-shaped bail, which carries a complimentary coral, enamel and beadwork design. A spectacular Victorian piece, it would look incredible worn on a decorative gold chain, and would make an impressive addition to any jewelry collection!

Measurements: The pendant hangs 2 7/8" long, measuring from the top of the bail to the bottom of the hanging center link. The round locket measures 1 1/4" in diameter, and is 5/8" thick.

Condition: The overall condition of the locket/pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or beadwork and wirework details. There is some light wear to the white enamel motif due to age, which is normal and does not detract from the beauty of the design. The diamond accent and all of the coral cabochons are all intact and securely set. The bail and glass locket frame are secure and in good working condition.
