Victorian 10kt & Ruby Skull & Cross Bones Locket
A fantastic gold skull locket from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This simple and attractive piece is made of 10kt yellow gold and features the raised image of a skull and cross bones in the center. The tiny skull was most likely added to the piece later and was not part of the original design. Despite its small size, the skull is very detailed with delicate ruby eyes and engraved detail depicting rows of individual teeth. The round locket has a smooth gold surface on both sides and hangs from a simple yellow gold bail stamped "10K". The piece opens to reveal a space inside to store a special photograph behind glass. This eye-catching locket would look perfect worn on a gold chain or added to a charm bracelet. It would make a wonderful and versatile addition to any jewelry collection!
Measurements: The hangs 1" long, has a diameter of 3/4" and measures approximately 1/4" at its thickest point.
Condition: The overall condition of the locket is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or skull and both rubies are intact. The locket opens easily and closes securely and the bail is secure and in good working condition.
