A wonderful locket from the Victorian era (ca1880). This beautiful piece is made of 14kt yellow gold and is in the shape of rounded square which hangs from its side from one of the corners. On the face of the locket is a simple yet interesting design with 3 old Mine Cut diamonds and 3 rows of calibrated rubies. Each row of rubies is comprised of 5 stones each. The stones are accented with 2 engraved lines that run through the center of the design. The back of the locket is ornately engraved with the initials "VJ". At the corner of the lockets sits a simple, nice sized bail which hangs from a simple, modern, twisted rope 14kt gold chain. The piece opens to reveal a place for your favorite photograph. This beautiful piece would make a great addition to any collection!
Measurements: The locket measures a little less than 1 3/8" long and wide and 1/8" thick. The inside of the bail measures 1/4" long and 1/8" wide.
Condition: The overall condition of the locket is excellent. There is no serious damage to the gold and all of the stones are intact. There is some normal wear and a couple of very small dings on the surface of the locket which is not uncommon for a Victorian piece. It closes easily and securely.
