Victorian Large 15kt Pearl & Diamond Wreathed Locket
A fabulous and unique locket from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This large piece has a shield-like shape and is made of 15kt rose gold. In the center is an oval shaped locket face which has a crystal face. The locket is framed by a gorgeous wreath design which displays intricately detailed yellow and rose gold leaves. A sterling flower rests at the top and the bottom, each of which holds a single diamond at its center and surrounded by 6 seed pearls. Along the sides of the piece are several diamonds that alternate with natural seed pearls and dangling from the bottom are 3 vessels. The back of the locket displays a gold-framed piece of glass that flips up to reveal a spot for a colored piece of fabric or for a favorite photograph. Which ever you choose to place in the locket is seen through the front of the piece. A large etched bail at the top of the pendant makes it perfect for attaching to a complimentary long chain. This outstanding piece is beautifully made and would make a wonderful addition to any collection!
Measurements: The pendant hangs approximately 4 1/8" long, is 1 7/8" at the widest point, and slightly more than 1/4" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold and all of the diamonds and pearls are intact. There are a couple of dings to the back of the piece, which is not unusual for a Victorian pendant and are not noticeable when it is worn.
