Victorian Sterling Aesthetic Movement Mixed Metals Locket
A beautiful mixed metals sterling locket from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Particularly large in size, this fabulous piece is made of sterling silver and has a gorgeous aesthetic movement floral design across the front of the locket. The design alternates between raised stripes made of rose gold, and engraved flower and leaf designs with raised mixed metal flowers. Surrounding the locket is a border of sterling balls and the back of the piece is engraved with the initials "EEW" in a flowing cursive script. The back is also stamped with three English hallmarks, as well as "J & F.S". The inside of the locket opens to reveal two spaces for your favorite photographs. It hangs from a sterling fluted bail, which is perfect for hanging from a long Victorian chain. It is a lovely example of Victorian artistry and would make a spectacular addition to any collection!
Measurements: The locket hangs approximately 2 1/4" long, is 1 5/8" wide and 1/4" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the locket is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no serious damage to the silver and the locket opens easily and stays securely closed. There is some normal wear and dings on the back of the piece, however this is not noticeable when the piece is worn.
