In French, fleur-de-lys means "lily flower." Decorative ornaments that resemble the fleur-de-lys have appeared in artwork from the earliest human civilizations. It has consistently been used as a royal emblem, though different cultures have interpreted its meaning in various ways.

An exquisite fleur-de-lys pin/pendant from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This relatively large piece is crafted in 18kt rose gold topped with sterling silver, and forms the shape of a feminine fleur-de-lys. The entire surface of the pin/pendant is lined with a combination of various sized old Mine and Rose Cut diamonds, collectively weighing approximately 2.20ctw. The sparkling stones rest in a shared prong and open back setting, each one catching the light beautifully with every turn. The diamonds are set in sterling silver while the rose gold is visible from the sides, creating a lovely mixed metals appeal. Attached at the back is a movable round bail attached to a hidden bail, allowing it to be hung from a favorite chain. The original c-catch clasp and bar pin (stamped with various Russian hallmarks, including a "56") also allow the piece to be attached to a favorite garment and worn as a brooch. This feminine and versatile Victorian piece merges seamlessly into modern day fashion and would make a perfect addition to any collection!

Measurements: The pin/pendant hangs approximately 1 7/8" long (including the hanging bail at the top), and measures a little over 1" wide, and is 1/8" thick.

Condition: The overall condition of the pin/pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the silver and gold setting and all of the diamonds are intact and securely set. The bails, pin bar and clasp are secure and in excellent condition.
