SKU: 43978

$2,695

An exceptional mourning pin from the early Victorian (1850-1880s) era! Crafted in 14kt yellow gold, this beautiful piece depicts the image of a woman resting against an ornately embellished pedestal. Hand-painted on porcelain, the illustration of the woman is truly exemplary, featuring fine detailed facial features, a billowing dress, and a soft, picturesque background. Natural seed pearls rest atop the raised rose gold pedestal, which is lined along the top and bottom with old Rose Cut diamonds. Twisted gold wire drapes vertically along the pedestal, a perfect finishing touch, and the entire image is encased in a yellow gold bezel setting. The front is fitted with a protective glass face and the closed back has a smoothly polished, concave surface, along with a secure c-catch clasp. This beautiful mourning pin is a breathtaking piece of art and would be an incredible addition to any Victorian collection.

Measurements: The pin measures approximately 1 1/4" tall, 3/4" wide and 1/4" deep, not including the pin.

Condition: The pin remains in excellent antique condition. Besides normal surface wear, particularly on the back, there is no serious damage to the gold setting. The hand-painted image, pearls, diamonds, gold wires are all intact and the protective glass is free of chips and scratches. The pin and c-clasp are secure and in good working condition.
