In French, fleur-de-lys means "lily flower." Decorative ornaments that resemble the fleur-de-lys have appeared in artwork from the earliest human civilizations. It has consistently been used as a royal emblem, though different cultures have interpreted its meaning in various ways.

An absolutely gorgeous fleur-de-lys locket from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This beautiful 14kt yellow gold piece is substantial in size and has a simple and fashionable design. Both sides of the oval-shaped locket are smooth and flat, with a subtle brushed gold surface. The front of the locket displays a beautiful turquoise fleur-de-lys, which is made of sterling silver and has beautiful green and blue pavé set stones. On the inside of the locket are two spaces to store special photographs behind glass, held within a rose gold frame. At the top of the locket is a gold loop and bail, making it easy to hang and wear from your favorite gold chain. A very versatile everyday piece, this gorgeous Victorian locket merges seamlessly into modern day fashion and would make a perfect addition to any collection!

Measurements: The locket hangs approximately 2 3/8" long, is 1 5/8" wide and 3/8" thick. The overall pennyweight of the piece is 29.1 dwt.

Condition: The overall condition of the locket is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or bail, which is intact. The locket opens easily and stays securely closed. One of the glass frames inside has a crack, but is still intact.
