Victorian 15kt Turquoise & Rose Cut Diamonds Locket
A gorgeous Persian turquoise and diamond locket pendant from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Made of 15kt yellow gold (indicating English origin), the unusual piece is circular in shape and fairly large in size. Adorning the front surface is a wonderful Pavé (French for "pavement") design comprised of five rows of turquoise stones that alternate with six rows of sparkling old Rose Cut diamonds. The Persian turquoise stones look simply beautiful paired with the diamonds, exhibiting a range of natural green and rich blue colors. The reverse side of the pendant reveals a round glass locket face that is removable, allowing the wearer to store a special photograph inside. The locket hangs from a complimentary bail detailed with diamonds that surround a single turquoise stone. This eye-catching piece would look perfect worn from a gold chain and would make a marvelous addition to any jewelry collection!
Measurements: The locket pendant hangs 1 5/8" long, is 3/8" thick and has a 1 1/8" diameter.
Condition: The overall condition of the piece is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or to the diamonds and turquoise stones, all of which are intact. The back of the locket can be removed easily and fits together securely, and the bail is intact and in good working condition.
