Victorian French Paste Gold Filled Locket
A beautiful and unusual French paste locket from the Victorian (ca1880) era! The beautiful gold filled piece is oval in shape and has a shield-like shaped design resting on the front. The colorful design is accented with vibrant French paste stones which vary in color, including clear, blue, red and green. The back of the locket has a simple, smooth surface and the piece hangs from a gold filled bail, allowing it to be easily hung and worn on a chain. The piece is hinged on the side and opens to reveal a glass covered space for your favorite photograph. This outstanding paste piece has a wonderful Victorian look and would make a very special addition to any jewelry collection!
Measurements: The locket hangs 1 3/4" long, measures 1 1/8" at the widest point and has a depth of 1/2" at the thickest point.
Condition: The overall condition of the locket is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold filled setting and all of the paste stones are intact. The locket opens easily and stays securely closed.
