An absolutely beautiful sterling silver and crystal jar from the late Victorian era (ca1900)! The jar, which is round in shape, is made of cut crystal and has a stunning design that carries around the entire jar, as well as the bottom of the piece. The lid of the jar is made of sterling silver and opens easily at the top. The center of the round lid is covered in enamel and displays wonderful image of a vibrant blooming garden with a flowing stream in the background and a stone patio and vase in the foreground. A bright blue Guilloché enameled frame borders the painted image completing the center image perfectly! On the side of the lid are several English hallmarks including an anchor, a lion and the letters "J&S", "E" and "B". The enamel and cut crystal design make this an absolutely gorgeous jar. It would make a perfect addition to any collection!
Measurements: The jar measures approximately 3" tall with the lid on, and has a diameter of about 4 1/4" at the widest part.
Condition: The overall condition of the jar is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling lid, enameling, or to the cut crystal base.
