Vintage Silver American Indian Inlaid Thunderbird Necklace
An absolutely fantastic and unusual inlaid silver American Indian necklace from the 1960's. This rare, handmade piece is very large in size and wonderfully detailed. The necklace is comprised of a double strand of pinched silver beads that are strung on simple chain. Also strung on the chain and resting atop the beads are 10 large silver Thunderbird links. Each bird has beautiful detail with multi-colored inlaid stones and materials, including coral, mother of pearl, turquoise, tortoise shell and animal bone. The necklace hangs long with a large silver pendant that rests at the center. The pendant also has an inlaid Thunderbird figure in the center with a round tortoise shell frame and a bone and turquoise topper. The double strand of beads comes together at the back at a single strand where it connects with a simple hook clasp. It's an absolutely striking piece and would make a fabulous addition to any collection!
Measurements: The large Thunderbird pendant is approximately 2 3/4" long, 2 1/2" wide and 1/8" thick. The width of each side of the necklace is 1 1/8" with a depth of 1/2" and the overall length of the necklace is approximately 35" long.
Condition: The overall condition of the pendant, chain and links is excellent. Besides normal surface wear and very minor chips in the inlaid stone, there is no serious damage to the pendant or to any of the links. The clasp is secure and in good working condition.
