FAHRNER Art Deco Sterling, Carnelian & Marcasite Earrings
These wonderful signed Theodor Fahrner earrings are from the Art Deco (ca1920) era! Made of sterling silver, they are decorated with rich carnelian stones and bead set sparkling marcasites. Each earring begins with a decorative sterling topper encrusted with delicate marcasite stones. Hanging from the surmount is an elongated sterling link that has holds three carnelian stones resting diagonally within the open oval. A textured ball-shaped link, which is detailed with numerous marcasite stones, dangles freely from the bottom. The earrings were originally worn as screw backs, but could alternatively be hung from posts or wires if desired. The back of each earring is hallmarked with the stamp "TF 935". When worn, the earrings hang long and have and make a striking, dramatic statement. They are very unusual and a must have for the Art Deco or Fahrner collector!
Measurements: Each earring hangs approximately 2 3/8" long, 5/8" at the widest point and 1/4" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling setting or to the carnelian stones, and all of the marcasites are intact. The earring posts are secure, and the hallmarks remain intact.
