Edwardian Silver & Multi Gemstone Floral Filigree Trinket Box
This gemstone trinket box from the Edwardian (ca1910) era is simply beautiful! Made of .800 purity silver, it features an intricate filigree design encrusted with multiple gemstones. The shapely cutouts form a floral pattern of flowing branches, vines, leaves, and petals. An ensemble of colorful gemstones adorn the surface, including aquamarines, sapphires, emeralds, and rubies. Each gemstone is bead set and beautifully faceted, catching the light for a soft sparkling effect. Beadwork accents surround the stones, and an engraved pattern carries along the edges and back of the box, continuing the feminine floral motif. When opened, the interior of the box reveals a hollow space, perfect for storing small trinkets inside. The cutout filigree pattern on top of the box makes it possible to see the contents inside without lifting the lid. Stamped in the interior is "800." A lovely and decorative antique piece, it would make a special gift or keepsake addition to any collection!
Measurements: The box measures 2 1/4" long, 1 7/8" wide, and 1/2" deep.
Condition: The overall condition of the box is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the silver setting or filigree design. All of the gemstones are intact and securely set. A few of the smallest stones show some small chips or minor surface wear, which is not very noticeable, and does not detract from the beauty of the piece. There are a few emeralds that appear to have been previously replaced with old synthetic stones. The hinged opens easily and snaps securely shut. There is a natural patina on the surface of the setting, which is a normal characteristic of antique silver.
