Late Victorian Long 14kt Turquoise Matrix Bead Chain 54"
A wonderful turquoise chain from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This extra long necklace is comprised of sections of 14kt gold chain that alternate with turquoise beads. The natural turquoise beads have wonderful shades of blue and green, and display brown mineral veins known as "matrix," creating a marbled appearance. Several of the beads are sandwiched between rock quartz crystal rondelles and delicate natural pearls, which adds a lovely feminine touch. Each rock crystal disc has a faceted edge that sparkles in the light, and the pearls display a wonderful natural luster. At the center of the chain is a gold watch swivel clasp, making it easy to double the chain for a layered look, or to hang a complimentary pendant or locket if desired. A very versatile piece, this wonderful chain is perfect for everyday wear, and would delight any turquoise lover!
Measurements: The entire length of the chain measures approximately 54" long. The watch swivel clasp hangs 5/8" long at the center. The larger turquoise beads measure 8mm in size, and the smaller beads measure between 5-6mm in size. The pearls each measure approximately 2mm in size.
Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold chain or watch swivel clasp, which fastens securely and is in good working condition. The turquoise beads, natural pearls, and rock quartz crystal discs are all intact and securely set. Some of the turquoise beads show variation in texture and color, which is normal for natural stones and adds to their unique beauty.
