Retro 14kt Moonstone Man in the Moon Crescent Earrings
A gorgeous and unusual pair of "Man in the Moon Crescent" earrings from the Retro era (ca1940)! The design has a wonderful mixed metals fabrication that includes 14kt yellow, rose, and white gold for a tri-tone setting. Each earring consists of a beautiful crescent moon with a charming man in the moon that sits perched inside. A row of graduated moonstone cabochons lines the face of the crescent, each polished into a smooth orb. They have a wonderful pale blue color and iridescent flash that catches perfectly in the light, lending an alluring quality to the piece. The man in the moon wears a gold hat atop its head, and its arms and legs peak out from a boxy rose gold shirt with a white gold ruffle, large gold button, and twisted rope waist. Its head is represented by a single ruby cabochon bead, adding a luscious pop of color! Resting on the back of each crescent is an earring post and large secure omega clip. When worn, the earrings rest at an attractive angle on the ear and look positively spectacular! A unique and whimsical design, they would make a special addition to any jewelry collection.
Measurements: Each crescent measures 1" tall and 3/16" at the widest point. The clown is 7/8" tall and 1/4" wide.
Condition: The earrings are in excellent condition. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the mixed gold setting, or to any of the moonstones, all of which are intact and securely set.
