Victorian 14kt Carved Banded Agate & Diamond Pendant 0.60ct
This unusual pendant from the Victorian era (ca1830) is truly one-of-a-kind! Crafted in 14kt gold, the beautiful design features a unique banded agate centerpiece. The hand-carved stone is concave in shape, forming an open basin with a smoothly polished surface. The bands of creamy white, grey, tan, and deep brown are very evident, and almost resemble an operculum shell in appearance. Resting at the center is a sparkling diamond, which is bezel set and riveted through the middle of the stone. The stone weighs approximately 0.60ct and has estimated J color and I1 clarity. Completing the design is a simple gold bail, and 4 double-prongs that hold the agate stone within a round, open back frame. An artistic and beautiful piece, this unique ring is perfect for the Victorian jewelry lover, and would make a special addition to any collection!
Measurements: The pendant hangs 1 1/8" long, including the bail. The banded agate centerpiece has a 7/8" diameter, and measures 1/4" deep from the side.
Condition: The overall condition of the pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or to the carved banded agate stone, which is free of chips or scratches. The center diamond remains intact and securely set. The bail at the top is also intact and securely attached.
