An incredible pair of carved ivory earrings from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Each of these spectacular antique earrings has an intricate 3-dimensional design that has been hand carved from ivory. The ivory "branches" intertwine to form a continuous lacework knot, with delicate thorny nubs that peak out at the sides. A simple gold earring wire hangs from the top of each ivory knot. Despite their substantial size and length, the ivory carvings are quite lightweight and comfortable to wear. They dangle elegantly when worn and have a striking appearance! Truly a work of art, these marvelous earrings display exemplary craftsmanship and would make a special addition to any collection.
Measurements: Each earring hangs approximately 2 3/8" long, is 7/8" at the widest point, and about 1/8" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the ivory carvings, which are free of any noticeable chips or scratches. There is some subtle color variation within the ivory links, which is normal for real ivory and adds to its natural beauty.
