Victorian English Sterling Wide Double Buckle Bracelet
A wonderful sterling silver bracelet from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This stylish English piece has a double buckle motif that decorates the front surface. The 3-dimensional detail includes a strap with two buckle clasps at either side, which are raised above the surface. The back of the bracelet is left simple and smooth, and a secure push clasp can be found at the side, where the bangle is hinged. Several English hallmarks are stamped in the bangle's interior, including a lion, a woman's profile, a shield, the letter "S," and the maker's initials "M.J.G." The bracelet has a classic Victorian look that blends seamlessly into modern day fashion. A perfect everyday accessory, it is wide enough to make a substantial statement on its own, or it could be paired with other bangles for a layered look!
Measurements: The surface of the bracelet measures 1 1/8" wide. The inside opening (where your wrist would rest) measures 2 1/8" wide and approximately 2" tall. It would fit nicely on a medium/average sized wrist.
Condition: The overall condition of the bracelet is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling silver setting or raised buckle motif. The clasp and hinge are both secure and in good working condition. There is a natural patina on the surface of the silver that gives it a darkened antique appearance, which is normal for Victorian era jewelry and adds depth to the design.
