Victorian French 18kt Diamond & Pearl Acorn Bypass Ring
The acorn is a traditional good luck emblem that has long been considered a symbol of strength, prosperity, patience, renewal, and growth. These attributes are partially inspired by nature itself; a mighty oak tree grows from a tiny acorn, giving significance not only to the tree, but to the seed itself. Acorns became a popular jewelry motif dating back to the early Victorian era, and are often depicted in a wonderful range of materials and styles. Their beautiful renderings and sentimental symbolism are still valued in the modern day, making antique acorn jewelry very special!
A beautiful diamond and pearl acorn ring from the Late Victorian (ca1900) period! This lovely platinum-topped 18kt gold piece features sparkling diamonds and a lustrous natural white pearl nestled together in the center, forming a stylish bypass design. The pearl is held within an acorn-like topper, with the pearl representing the body of the acorn and the diamond-encrusted design forming the top. Two old Mine Cut diamonds are prong set at the center of the ring, while delicate Rose Cut diamonds accent the sides of the split band. The larger diamond weighs approximately .50ct with I range color and SI2-SI3 range clarity. The smaller stone is approximately .20ct with I range color and SI2 range clarity. The contrast between the vibrant yellow gold shank and platinum-topped center is simply beautiful, and the pearl and diamonds compliment each other beautifully. An engraved groove travels along the outside of the band, and stamped at the back are two small French hallmarks. A gorgeous, feminine piece, it looks simply stunning when worn and could make a unique engagement ring!
Measurements: The ring has a finger size 5.25 but could easily be re-sized. The bypass motif at the center measures 7/16" wide. The gold band measures 2mm wide at the back.
Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the platinum-topped gold setting, pearl, or diamonds, all of which are intact and securely set.
