Victorian Petite 14kt Opal Trefoil & Diamond Crescent Ring
This beautiful ring from the Victorian era (ca1880) has a wonderful, celestial-inspired design! At the center of the ring is a lovely crescent moon that encircles a delicate trefoil. Lining the surface of the crescent is a row of sparkling Rose Cut diamonds, which rest in a foil-backed setting. Nestled within the crescent's interior are three delicate opal cabochons, representing the "petals" of the trefoil. The opals are simply mesmerizing, displaying a wonderful range of iridescent green and blue hues that flash and shimmer in the light. Completing the design is a smooth gold band with decorative pillar accents at each shoulder, where the centerpiece meets the shank. Stamped within the interior is "14K" and a hand engraved inscription. A marvelous Victorian piece, it would make a special addition to any antique ring collection!
Measurements: The ring has a large finger size of 6, but could easily be resized if desired. The centerpiece has a 5/16" diameter. The band measures 2mm wide in the back.
Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting. The rose cut diamonds and opal cabochons are intact and securely set. The diamonds have a slightly darkened appearance due to the age of the foil back setting, which is normal for a Victorian era piece, and is characteristic of antique jewelry.
