Victorian Silver/18kt Rose Cut Diamond & Natural Pearl Festoon Necklace
A spectacular diamond and pearl festoon necklace from the Victorian (ca1850) era! This incredible handmade piece is crafted in 18kt gold topped with silver. Delicate rose cut diamonds cover the surface of the design in a fine pave setting, and natural pearls dangle from the base of each festoon link. A total of 51 graduated festoon strands wrap around the neckline, hanging gracefully in a tiered fashion. The diamond and pearl combination is lovely and feminine, combining the soft luster of each creamy white pearl with the delicate sparkle of the rose cut stones. At the back of the necklace is a row of scalloped diamond links, which meet at a complimentary push clasp. When worn, the magnificent design looks positively regal, and has timeless beauty and elegance. It would look outstanding worn on special occasions, and is perfect for the serious Victorian collector!
Measurements: The necklace measures approximately 16" in total length. The festoon style links graduate in length, with the longest link measuring 1" long at the center, and the shortest links at the ends measuring 1/2" long. The pearls vary in size, measuring between 4-6mm on average.
Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the silver-topped gold setting. All of the rose cut diamonds and natural pearls are intact and securely set. The push clasp fastens securely and is in good working condition. There is a natural patina on the surface of the setting, which is normal for Victorian era jewelry, and adds to the unique beauty and character of its appearance.
