Victorian Silver Moonstone Scorpion Pin
A unique scorpion pin from the late Victorian (ca1900s) era! Crafted in silver, the brooch depicts an artistic scorpion created with 3-dimensional details. Lining the scorpion's body and and arms are 11 moonstones cabochons, each in a prong setting. The alluring moonstones have a pearly flash and iridescent pale blue color. Curved arms extend from either side, ending in pinchers, and six bend legs line the sides of the body. Finishing the design is a long tail with engraved details. On the back of the scorpion is a bar pin and c-catch clasp, perfect for fastening the piece to a favorite garnet. An unusual Victorian piece, this stylish brooch would delight the antique jewelry lover, or any Scorpio star sign!
Measurements: The brooch measures approximately 2 3/4" long, 1" wide, and approximately 1/4" thick.
Condition: The pin remains in very good antique condition. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the silver setting. The moonstone cabochons are intact and securely set. One stone has a small scratch near the prongs, which is unnoticeable when the piece is worn, and does not detract from its overall beauty. The pin clasp fastens securely and is in good working condition. The silver has some color variation throughout, including a darkened patina, which is a normal characteristic of antique jewelry.
