Victorian Sterling/18kt Moonstone Sapphire + Diamond "Man in the Moon" Ring
A magnificent multi gemstone "Man in the Moon" ring from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Crafted in 18kt gold and sterling, this impressive ring features a carved moonstone at the center of a gemstone border. The hand-carved details bring the recognizable "Man in the Moon" motif to life, including 3-dimensional facial features, and a whimsical smiling expression. The translucent moonstone displays iridescent flashes of blue that catch the light beautifully within the open-back setting. Surrounding the bezel-set stone is a row of sapphires, which are beautifully faceted and display gorgeous shades of vibrant blue. Adding to the already incredible design is an additional row of sparkling Rose Cut diamonds encircling the sapphires. The diamonds are bezel-set in sterling, while the sapphires and moonstone are set in yellow gold, highlighting the mixed metals design. Completing the design are pillar-style shoulders and an etched leafy motif, extending to a smooth gold band in the back. This substantial ring is a show stopper from all angles and makes a fabulous statement when worn!
Measurements: The ring has a finger size 6 but could be re-sized if desired. The moonstone, sapphire and diamond centerpiece measures approximately 1" in diameter and rests approximately 1/2" above the finger when worn. The band measures 2.5mm wide in the back.
Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling and gold setting. The moonstone, diamonds, and sapphire stones are all intact and securely set.
