Victorian Sterling Chain with Etched Slide 90"
A wonderful slide necklace from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Crafted in sterling silver, the piece is comprised of an extremely long chain that is adorned with a decorative slide. A pattern of split links interlock to form the chain, accented with delicate beadwork details throughout. The chunky slide is embossed on both sides with a floral inspired motif. It moves in both directions, adjusting the placement of the chain as desired. On one side of the chain is the stamp created by the impression of a seal, leaving a hallmarked image within a flattened link. At the center of the chain is a large silver spring ring clasp, making it possible to hang a complimentary pendant or locket at the base. A lovely Victorian piece, it would make a special addition to any collection!
Measurements: The chain measures 90" in total length, and is approximately 3/16" thick. The slide measures 7/8" long, 5/8" wide, and 3/8" thick.
Condition: The piece is in good antique condition. The slide shows some light signs of surface wear, which is minor and commensurate with age. One of the chain links is missing the small beadwork accents, which is not noticeable when the chain is worn. The spring ring clasp at the base fastens securely and is in good working condition. There is a natural patina on the surface of the silver, which is normal for Victorian era jewelry, but can be polished if a brighter look is desired.
