Art Deco 14kt Gold + Sapphire Expandable Lorgnette Glasses Pendant
A gorgeous sapphire and diamond lorgnette pendant from the Art Deco (ca1920s) era! Crafted in 14kt yellow gold, this lorgnette is particularly unusual due to its generous length. The pendant takes shape in a pair of folding reading glasses, which are encased at the end of a stunning sapphire-lined handle. The delicate square cut sapphires catch the light for a soft sparkling effect, displaying incredible shades of natural blue. Additional details include two bezel set sapphires, set at the base of the handle and top of the lenses, and a single accent diamond below the lens. Etched details on both sides of the piece decorate the gold setting, a perfect finishing touch. The eye glasses fold in half and snap into place at the top. They easily swing out with a simple push of a button located on the side of the handle. At the end of the gold handle is a large gold ring and bail, which is perfect for hanging the piece from a favorite chain. This fabulous collector's piece remains in excellent condition, and is sure to delight any jewelry lover!
Measurements: The entire piece hangs 6" long (including the gold bail). When expanded, the glasses measure 3 3/4" wide. Each lens measures 1 3/8" in diameter. The sapphire handle is 1/8" wide
Condition: The overall condition of the lorgnette is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold handle, encasement or to the eye glasses. The glasses fold and move easily, and stay secure in place once snapped into the encasement. The spring button mechanism is in excellent working condition. All of the sapphires are intact and securely set. There is a natural patina on the surface of the gold, which is a normal characteristic of antique jewelry.
