Art Deco Enameled Brass Flexible Snake Necklace
A beautiful and unusual snake necklace from the Art Deco (ca1920) era! This artistic piece is crafted and brass, and has a flexible design that depicts a 3-dimensional serpent. The body of the snake is covered with small disks, which piece together to represent individual scales. Colorful enamel decorates the surface of each scale, forming a striking pattern of white, green, and blue. The enameled color scheme continues along the surface of the snake's head, including two enameled read eyes. When worn, the body of the serpent wraps comfortably around the neck, thanks to the flexible design. At the end is a curved tail tip, which also acts as a hidden clasp. The tail can be clipped on to the body as desired, allowing the length to be adjusted according to the wearer's neck. A fabulous everyday piece for the fashion conscious woman, it is perfect for any snake lover, and would make an artistic addition to any vintage jewelry collection!
Measurement: The necklace measures approximately 18" long from end to end, and is 1/4" thick.
Condition: The necklace is in good vintage condition. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the brass setting or flexible design. Some of the enameled details are no longer intact or have become faded due to age. However, the wear is not noticeable when the piece is worn, and does not detract from the beauty of the design. The clip underneath the tail clasps securely.
