Art Deco English Sterling Silver Wishbone Sugar Tongs
An unusual pair of sugar tongs from the Victorian (ca1880) period! This charming English piece is made of sterling silver and has a unique design that depicts a three-dimensional wishbone. The top of the wishbone serves as the handle, while the two sides are hinged at the top, allowing them to pinch together and grasp a cube of sugar at the tips. Stamped inside the tongs are several markings, including: "STERLING", "W300" and three small hallmarks. Perfect for using at tea time or as a whimsical decorative piece for the home, these creative sugar tongs would make a lovely addition to any collection!
Measurements: The tongs measure 3 3/4" long, are 1 1/2" wide, and 1/8" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the piece is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling silver setting or hinge. The tongs are fully functional, and have a slight patina on the surface of the silver, which is normal but could be polished to brighten the silver if desired.
