Art Deco Long Sterling Onyx & Marcasite Earrings
A beautiful pair of onyx and marcasite earrings from the Art Deco (ca1920) era! These long, elegant earrings are made of sterling silver and have a decorative hanging design. A large black onyx stone is bezel set at the base, which is smoothly polished for a glossy finish. Surrounding the central stone is a geometric framework, which features geometric cutouts and sparkling marcasite stones. Each earring hangs from an elongated surmount, giving the earrings lovely movement when worn. A simple post rests on the back, completing the elaborate design. Stamped on the back of each earring "STERLING" beside two small maker's marks. A gorgeous pair of Art Deco earrings, they have a striking appearance and would look wonderful worn on special occasions!
Measurements: The earrings hang 2 3/4" long, measure 3/4" across at the widest point, and are 1/4" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling setting or to the onyx and marcasite stones, all of which are intact. The earring posts are secure and in good condition. There is a natural patina that gives a darkened antique appearance to the sterling setting, which is normal and adds depth and character to the design.
