Art Deco Platinum Carved Onyx 3-Stone Diamond Ring
A fabulous and unusual onyx and diamond ring from the Art Deco (ca1920) era! This beautiful ring is made of platinum and adorns an interesting and bold onyx and diamond centerpiece. The centerpiece, which is slightly askew and square in shape, has 3 old Mine Cut diamonds that are set diagonally within the onyx frame. The diamonds range in size, with the largest set in the center, and all are bezel set and have a total overall weight of approximately 0.66ctw (the largest center stone weighing 0.50ct). The diamonds are set within an ellipse shaped cutout in the center of two curved onyx stones which create the four corners of the square. The onyx is rich and black and has a carved design along the surface which gives it a cushion-like texture. All of the stones are framed in a milgrained bezel setting and the underside of the mounting reveals a wonderful wirework design with a heart motif. Six additional diamonds are set along the shoulder of the ring, perfectly completely the striking design. The piece has a very Deco look and a beautiful design. Absolutely stunning, this very special ring looks lovely when worn and would make a fabulous addition to any collection or would make a gorgeous engagement ring!
Measurements: The ring has a finger size of 8.5 but could be easily resized. The front onyx plaque measures 1/2" wide and tall and rests approximately 1/4" above the finger when worn.
Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the platinum setting and the onyx and diamonds are all intact and undamaged.
