Art Deco Sterling Carnelian & Marcasite Enameled Ring
A beautiful carnelian and marcasite ring from the Art Deco (ca1920) era! This wonderful piece is crafted in sterling silver, and has an artistic design that is very exemplary of the Art Deco aesthetic. Resting in the center is a smooth carnelian cabochon, which is polished into a bulging rectangular shape and has a wonderful burnt orange color. The carnelian is surrounded by a decorative border lined with four sparkling marcasite stones and rich brown enameling. A simple and smooth band connects to the elongated "stacked" centerpiece, completing the striking design and "STERLING" is stamped along the shank. An unusual ring with a fantastic design, it would make a wonderful everyday accessory for the vintage jewelry lover!
Measurements: The ring has an approximate finger size 5.75, but could easily be re-sized. The carnelian and marcasite centerpiece measures 1" tall, 3/4" wide, and rests 1/4" above the finger when worn.
Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling setting or enameling and the carnelian and marcasite stones are all intact and securely set. There is a natural patina that gives a darkened appearance to the silver setting, which is normal for vintage jewelry and adds to its natural beauty and character.
