Art Deco German Brass Enameled Flexible Wrap-Around Snake Bracelet
A beautiful and unusual snake bracelet from the Art Deco (ca1920) era! The piece, which is made of brass, depicts the body of a serpent which coils three times around your wrist. The exterior of the body is textured with small disks that piece together to represent scales. Each "scale" has a surface of vibrantly colored blue, red, green and white enameling, which has an alternating pattern. The head of the snake has a three-dimensional design with carved detail, red eyes, and a parted tongue that peeks out from its mouth, and continues with the blue, red, green and white color scheme. Stamped on the underside of the snake's head is "GERMANY" along with a small makers mark. The bracelet has flexible design, allowing it to slip on and off without the need for a clasp, and adjust to the size of your wrist accordingly. A fabulous everyday piece for the fashion conscious woman, it is perfect for any snake lover and would make a striking addition to any collection!
Measurement: The opening of the bracelet (where your wrist would rest) is slightly adjustable, with the smallest size measuring 1 1/2" in diameter. When stretched, the bracelet expands to approximately 2" in diameter. When worn, it would best fit a small to average sized wrist.
Condition: The overall condition of the bracelet is great. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the brass setting, and only minimal wear to the enameling.
