Art Deco Sterling Onyx Amazonite & Marcasite Pin
A fantastic and very substantial pin from the Art Deco (ca1920) era! This fabulous pin is set in sterling and is comprised of three rings carved out of onyx and amazonite stones. The large black onyx ring rests at the center, which has a rich, bold look and high-polished surface for a glossy looking finish. At either side of center is an amazonite ring, which displays a lovely pale sea green color that has a translucent, almost shimmery quality. Two sterling loops hug the onyx ring, and each is lined with a row of sparkling marcasite stones. Completing the look is a black onyx bar at each end of the pin, resting against the side of the amazonite rings. The back of the pin has a long silver bar pin and secure pin clasp attached, allowing it to be fastened to a favorite garment. A very unique statement piece, this fabulous pin has a wonderful geometric design and a very Art Deco look!
Measurements: The pin measures approximately 3" wide. The large onyx ring in the center has a 1 1/4" diameter, and the amazonite rings have a 3/4" diameter. The pin is slightly more than 1/4" thick (not including the bar clasp).
Condition: The overall condition of the pin is good. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the silver setting or to the onyx and amazonite rings. All of the marcasite stones are intact, and the clasp fastens securely and is in good working condition. There is a natural darkened patina on the surface of the silver, which is normal for an Art Deco era piece.
