Art Deco Sterling Onyx Rock Quartz Crystal Drop Necklace
A fantastic rock quartz crystal necklace from the Art Deco (ca1920) era! This beautiful piece is comprised of a single large sized teardrop rock crystal pendant that hangs from an ornate sterling silver chain. The crystal teardrop has a faceted surface and which catches the light beautifully and attaches to a lovely sterling surmount, which displays a feminine leaf motif. The rock crystal stone hangs from an open link chain that is accented with 6 graduating and faceted rock quartz crystal beads which are sandwiched between rich, black onyx rondelles. Additionally, a large faceted rock crystal bead is set at the center of the chain, directly above the teardrop pendant, acting as a short extension for the large drop pendant. The necklace fastens at a spring clasp at the back and the necklace has a perfect length, resting beautifully along the mid-chest area. It's a fabulous piece and would make a great addition to any collection!
Measurements: The chain of the necklace measures 19" long. When hanging from the central large bead extension, the drop pendant hangs 2 3/8" in total length from the chain. The large carved rock crystal pendant (included its sterling bail) is approximately 1 1/2" long, slightly more than 3/4" at the widest point and has a depth of 1/2". The largest faceted rock crystal bead on the chain has an approximate diameter of 9mm, while the smallest has a diameter of 7.75mm.
Condition: The overall condition of the chain and pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no serious damage to any of the rock crystal or onyx stones or to sterling chain and bail. The clasp is secure and in good working condition.
