Art Nouveau 14kt Mixed Metals Garnet + Diamond Bug Pin
A wonderful gemstone bug pin from the Art Nouveau (ca1910) era! This beautifully detailed piece is crafted in 14kt gold and has a fabulous 3-dimensional design. A round garnet cabochon stone forms the middle of its body, while the lower half features a fantastic mixed metals design. With a fine line running down the center to signify its separate wings, the design displays yellow, green, rose and white gold scale-like sections and a wonderful texture throughout. Two bezel set old Rose Cut diamonds represent its eyes while two antennae sprout out of the top of the head, and six curved legs peek out from the bottom. On the underside of the pin is a bar pin with a secure clasp. This delightful piece is a wonderful example of insect-inspired jewelry and would make a special addition to any collection!
Measurements: The pin measures approximately 1 1/4" long, 3/4" wide, and 3/8" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the pin is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the mixed metals gold setting or to the garnet and diamond stones, all of which are intact. The pin clasp is secure and in good working condition.
