Art Nouveau 14kt Enameled Diamond Butterfly Necklace
A lovely diamond butterfly necklace from the Art Nouveau (ca1900) era! This wonderfully feminine piece depicts and open winged butterfly that has a surface covered with rich enameling and is accented with sparkling diamonds. With a 3-dimensional look, the butterfly has wide spread wings, 2 gold antennas, and 2 cabochon rubies as eyes. A 0.12ct Cushion Cut diamond and 3 old Rose Cut diamonds represent its body and 12 additional old Rose Cuts are set within the wings in a pinched bezel setting. The piece, which was most likely originally worn as a pin, has since been converted to a pendant and attached to a fine gold chain. It's a exceptional piece and would make a wonderful addition to any collection!
Measurement: The butterfly pendant measures 7/8" wide, is slightly more than 3/4" tall and has a depth of 1/16". The overall length of the chain is 16".
Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no serious damage to the enameling and all of the stones are intact. The chain clasp is secure and in good working condition.
