Art Nouveau Large Sterling Carved Carnelian Floral Ring
A fabulous carved carnelian ring from the Art Nouveau (ca1900) era! Crafted in sterling silver, this relatively large piece displays a gorgeous carnelian stone at the center of a beautiful band. The bezel set stone features a wonderful hand carved floral motif across the entire front surface, complete with delicate bold cutouts. The carnelian exhibits a fantastic deep orange hue with a translucent quality that is showcased beautifully when the light passes through its open back setting. Decorating each split-shank shoulder is a soft floral and leaf motif, and wrapped around the top and bottom of the stone is a lovely twisted rope border. The stacked band graduates slightly towards the back and the natural darkened patina on the silver provides wonderful dimension to the overall design. This beautiful and unique piece would make a lovely addition to any collection!
Measurements: The ring has a finger size of 6.75 but could easily be re-sized. The centerpiece measures about 1" tall, 3/4 wide, and about 1/4" above the finger when worn.
Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the silver setting or to the carnelian stone which is secure and intact.
