Art Nouveau Silver & Enamel Flower Slide Mirror Locket
A lovely and unusual slide locket from the Art Nouveau period (ca1900)! This fantastic piece is made of silver and portrays the shape of a purple iris flower. The entire face of the piece is covered in a detailed painted design of the flower with an enameled surface. The iris has rich hues of purple, white and yellow petals and green leaves with a delicate, life-like appearance. The piece slides open from the top to reveal a shallow compartment with a small, circular mirror inside. It hangs from a simple sterling bail, making it easy to hang from a silver chain. It's a wonderful and feminine piece that would make a beautiful everyday addition to any collection!
Measurements: The locket hangs approximately 1 5/8" long, is 1 1/4" wide and 1/8" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the locket is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no serious damage to the silver or enameling and the locket slides open easily. The bail is secure and in good working condition. There is some surface wear to the mirror, which is normal for a piece of this era and does not detract from the beauty of the design.
